What technical skills will I need?
You don't need to know html, javascript, graphical design or even how to upload your site to a server - we'll do all that for you. It's all included in the price of your chosen site. The only skills you will need to have to make money from your new site is the abilty to use a search engine (like google and yahoo) and to be able to send an email. And if you didn't have those skills you'd have never been able to buy a site from us in the first place. Here's how technical it gets, honestly! 1. Get a domain name Once you have chosen and paid for your new site you will need to get a domain name for your site. The domain name of this site is The-Website-Game.com we bought it for $10. Once you have thought of a name for your site you need to check to see if anyone has already thought of it. To do this you need to do a whois check. Don't worry it's easy. For example: Vist Godaddy.com and type in your idea of a domain in the green box that says "Enter a domain name". You will then be taken to a screen that tells you whether or not someone has already registered that name. If you choose a name like casino.com then you'll find someone has already registered it! You will need to be creative with the names you choice as the most obvious ones have already gone. Keep trying names until you find one you like and which is available. You should be able to buy that domain for about $10 a year. Congratulations you now have your first domain name. 2. Get hosting We'll advise you on what hosts to use but the choice is completely yours. Once you have selected your host and signed up for a hosting package email us and we'll upload your new site for you - it's as simple as that. For an explanation on what hosting is see below: [We do this bit for you] Here is a simplified explanation of the role of the host: Your new site consists of files, these files are webpages and pictures. When you first design a site all the files are stored on your computer. To view the website you need to open a browser, like Internet Explorer. For other people to be able to use your site you need to transfer your files to a host's computer. When you put your files on the host's computer it is called Uploading. You do this using an FTP (file transfer protocol) program. Once your site is uploaded anyone with internet access can download it their computer. They simply type the domain name directly into their browser or search for it using a search engine such as google. Basically, you upload your site to a host, your visitor downloads your site from that host. 3. Send emails In order to get visitors to your new site you will need to get links from other sites pointing to yours. These links can either be text links or banners. Either way people click these links to get to your site. In order to get people linking to your site you need to ask them and to do this you'll need to send them an email. They will most likely want you to return the favour and link back to them. For this you will need a links page. One is provided with every site. You can either update that links page yourself with some very simple html (hypertext markup language) or for a small fee we will do this for you.
