Briefly, how do I make money?

Making money from your new site is easy - in principle! Don't believe anyone who tells you making money on the internet is easy. It is, however, possible to make a second income (or even a sole income) if you are prepared to put the work in and follow a sensible business plan.

Your site makes money everytime someone clicks on an advertiser's banner and spends money on their site. Imagine if a casino paid you £20 for every customer you sent through their doors - thats exactly what you are doing with your site. You make money from referring people to online casinos or bookmakers.

  How it works
Your site has information that draws in visitors
Visitors browse your site, reading your pages
They are exposed to the adverts on your site
Interested they click on your advertising banners & links
They sign-up for a service on your advertiser's site
Your advertiser pays you a referral fee

The website game is all about getting visitors onto your site. Not every visitor is going to click on your advertiser's banners, and of the ones that do, not everyone will spend money.

Making money from sign-ups

When you send a visitor from your site to someone else's and they buy something this is called a conversion. If you send 5000 people to another site and 25 people spend money then you have a conversion ratio of 200:1 or in other words, for every 200 vistors you refer to the site 1 person signs-up.

On average then, if your site gets 5000 visitors a week and you have a conversion ratio of 200:1 then you will get paid for the 25 people that sign-up. If the site you are affiliated to pays you £20 a sign-up, you will get 25 x £25 = £500. Look at the table below:

monthly is calculated as 4 weeks

Notice that two things affect how much money you make a month: the number of visitors and your conversion rate. Look at the last two, one site gets 20,000 visitors a month and the other gets 50,000 however the first site converts at a better rate (200:1 over 500:1) and so both sites get the same amount per month in revenue.

Revenue Percentage

Instead of getting paid per sign-up, some casinos and bookmakers offer webmasters a percentage of the revenue generated by each customer they refer. For example: You send customer A to an online casino which pays you 20% of referred revenue. That month, the casino makes £50 from that customer. You get paid £10 (20% of £50). However, next month the casino get another £50 from that customer, he earns you another £10. As well as customer A, you also send customers B, C and D...

The important difference is that with a percentage of revenue you earn every month that your referred customer spends in the casion or bookmaker. Obviously, the more customers you send each month, the more mone you'll make.

Remember that this is a guide, no-one is guaranteed to make money. It takes time to build up traffic, anyone who tells you you'll get 1000s of visitors a month when you first start just isn't being honest with you. You must work at getting visitors onto your site.
